Immigration Series #3 (intermediate):existent marks of difficulties, forced or voluntary character.

Reed. Cotton. 2019

Series #2 (intermediate): existent marks of difficulties, forced or voluntary character. Inspired by the stories of immigrants who have left sporadically, mourning the loss of what they call home but with the blessing of returning without a final penalty. Always grateful but missing the true essence of their origin. They leave through the “big door” with a destination but no known route. The journey for trials and errors begins. A person whom I spoke to, described their immigration story as bittersweet. It felt as if they were a branch from a river, looking to continue on with their journey where other waters meet, not knowing how to keep itself afloat amongst the unknown, coexisting with other living things. Having more access yet not guidance on how to make things work, prolonging that feeling of belonging somewhere but getting closer than ever before. Trying to make things make sense is as hard as going back, when there’s no generational wealth nothing will ever be easy back home either way. It’s healthier to hustle where there’s possibilities than where they are inexistent.
